It was late by the time she got to Aaron's. Really late. She was exhausted, but as far as she was concerned, that was a good thing. The exhaustion kept her from over thinking anything. As far as she knew, she was just there to see a friend, and if things happened to go this particular friend's way, they were probably going to wind up in bed together. And while she knew that there were parts of her that really wanted that, there were some things that still hadn't settled in her mind.
Like the fact that he didn't trust her.
She knew what Jake had said about Aaron and the way his brain works, and she understood that. But that still didn't mean it didn't hurt, and it still left her second guessing. She wanted everything that he was willing to give her, and she knew that it wasn't going to be much, but there was still the idea that she could, against odds, hope for more, and she really shouldn't be risking that here.
But she was. Because she had to. Because she figured she had nothing else left to lose, and she desperately didn't want to be alone. And she had missed him, and being with him. So this -- wasn't completely wrong. It just wasn't completely right, either. She paused outside his door, before knocking on it lightly and sliding her hands into the front pouch of her sweatshirt.
